Fish and Chips 7.3 metre demountable catamaran

This design is for the experienced builder with boat building experience.
This boat was designed to be built using plywood Stitch and Glue construction Fish and chips is a demountable catamaran. It can be disassembled and stacked on a road trailer. The cockpit is removable and stacks on top of the hulls. To assemble for launching:

  • Extend trailer to full width and slide hulls out.
  • Insert fore and aft beams into sleeves, slide hulls in and bolt up.
  • Place main beam into recess and bolt up from inside hulls.
  • Place cockpit into position and fix with support pins.
  • Lash forward trampoline to fixings.
  • Raise mast using trailer winch if necessary.
  • Launch off trailer.
Note, this is not a typical "trailer sailor" as the estimated time to set up would be 4 - 5 hours.
Auxiliary power is an extra long shaft outboard motor (8 - 9hp).
Fish and chips should be a reasonably comfortable inshore cruiser for 4 - 5 people.

Buying plans

Study Plans: sent in PDF format within 24 hours. Study plans are provided to show a dimensioned general layout and sail plan, accomodation and a basic material list. Some other details may also be included. The boat cannot be built from the study plans but are provided for information and basic pricing.

Plans: The full plan set is required if the you want to build this boat. It contains all the information and dimensions required. The plans are presented in PDF format. These can be printed on your home printer on A4 size paper or sent to a photo copier to enlarge to A3 size. Plans consist of 33 drawings in PDF format and a material list emailed within 24 hours.

DXF cutting files: these are only required if the builder owns or has access to a CNC router or laser cutter. the information given describes the finished component. The operator will have to offset the outline for the toolpath suitable for the chosen tool.
